Follow Spanish immigration and stay updated on Spain's economic trends: Spain's Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria, recently stated in an interview that the number of foreign tourists visiting Spain from January to August this year is the highest in 12 years, with both total tourist spending and average spending reaching new records. Soria noted that the number of foreign tourists in August this year was the highest for the same period since 1995, with relevant data to be released on September 22.
Soria indicated that if the number of tourists continues to grow, the number of foreign tourists in Spain in 2013 will exceed last year's figures. In 2012, Spain received 57.8 million foreign tourists. As of July, the number of visitors to Spain had already reached 34 million.
