Follow Greek Property Immigration and Greek Tourism attractions: Zagorohoria is one of the 46 fortunate small mountain villages that have been preserved. The name is derived from an ancient Slavic phrase Za Gora (behind the mountain) and the Greek word for village (Horia). These villages are hidden in the corners of the Pindus mountain range, filled with endless local legends and breathtaking houses, including ordinary stone slate cottages and magnificent stone fortress residences. The villages were once connected by small paths and stone bridges; today, the riverbeds and bridges in the valleys still exist, but asphalt roads have been built between the villages.

Although some villages have few residents due to years of neglect and outward migration, they have transformed their old buildings and traditional houses into unique and beautiful guesthouses. Additionally, being located around Vikos-Aoos National Park, it has become a top destination for photographers, hikers, and climbers.
