Montreal, located at the confluence of the Ottawa River and the Saint Lawrence River in Canada, is a thriving international metropolis and the oldest city in Canada. It embodies a unique French cultural heritage and is considered the "City of Romance" in North America. Due to Montreal's long winter lasting for more than half the year, indoor shopping is very popular here. After immigrating to Canada and settling in Montreal, you will find a variety of shopping centers where you can shop to your heart's content while avoiding rain, snow, or heat waves!

1. Holt Renfrew
If you are looking for major brands like GUCCI, Hermes, and Hugo Boss, this mall is the place to go. Holt Renfrew is located on Sherbrooke Street, near Ogilvy, which is also a luxury store where you may be familiar with Louis Vuitton, Burberry, and other luxury brands. They carry some French women's fashion brands along with other international fashion giants. This is a multi-level mall where you can often meet and greet some well-known designers (like my memorable encounter in 2011 with Jean-Paul Gaultier, a French haute couture designer who founded his eponymous brand and served as the creative director of Hermès from 2003 to 2010)!
Address: 1300 Rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montreal, QC H3G 1G2
2. Eaton Center and Underground City
If you have read about Montreal, you will know that the city is famous for its extensive underground city that stretches over 32 kilometers. This mall is located in the heart of Montreal and attracts a younger crowd. Due to its convenient accessibility, it may be one of the most popular shopping spots in winter. Many fast-food chains are located on the lower floors, while the bustling upper level is filled with a variety of shops. Come explore this underground tunnel!
3. Fairview Mall
Located in Pointe Claire on the West Island of Montreal, it is closer to Montreal International Airport, making it a convenient shopping choice if you happen to be in the area. This mall shares the same concept as Eaton Center (minus the underground tunnel) and offers free outdoor parking.
Address: 6801 Trans-Canada Hwy Pointe-Claire, QC H9R 5J2
4. Rockland Center
This mall is a bit hard to find by public transport, but it remains a great shopping destination with ample parking. It features stores like H&M as well as high-end shops like Michael Kors. If you can get there, you will understand why this place is cool (it is recommended to visit during off-peak hours).
Address: 2305 Rockland, Montreal, QC H3P 3E9
5. Carrefour Laval
Although it is not on the Island of Montreal, it is still very convenient to get to from Montreal. Carrefour Laval has improved significantly over the years. From interior decor to the variety of stores, this mall attracts many Montrealers. It features trendy shops popular with teenagers as well as high-end stores like Alton Grey (L.A.M.B), Michael Kors, Coach, and more... If you have explored almost all of Montreal, this mall is definitely worth a visit.
