Water Fees
According to municipal requirements, an initial connection fee and a deposit of approximately 200 euros must be paid. The deposit will be refunded upon settling all outstanding water fees and submitting a request for disconnection. Water fees are charged quarterly, with a fixed monthly charge displayed on the bill. The typical consumption price is fixed at below 40 cubic meters, and any usage exceeding 40 cubic meters will incur an additional charge per ton, which is often significantly higher. If the owner plans to be away from Cyprus for an extended period, it is advisable to arrange for bank payments on a fixed schedule, prepay the water fees, or find a reliable person to assist with payments. In some areas, water is sourced from wells and facilities owned by private individuals (including churches), and charges will be based on their own water meters.
Electricity Fees
When purchasing a new home, a new electricity contract must be established in the owner's name. The owner must either go to the electricity authority in person or appoint a representative. To obtain electricity supply, the owner must submit their passport and a stamped sales contract at the new connection counter. There is a fee for the connection on the same day, and non-EU individuals must pay a deposit of 300 euros. Electricity fees are generally billed every two months, but a monthly payment plan based on estimated meter readings can also be requested.
Telephone Fees
The fixed charge for landline service is approximately 16 euros per month. Actual call charges are very reasonable.
Cable or Satellite Television Fees
Monthly packages start at 25 euros, including a variety of channels such as BBC World, Discovery Channel, CNN, etc. Prices vary based on the selected channels.
In comparison to the high housing prices, high cost of living, and poor environment in the home country, Cyprus is quite suitable for living. Those wishing to immigrate to Cyprus should apply as soon as possible to avoid an increase in immigration requirements due to a surge in applicants in the future.
