Follow Vanuatu Immigration and Life in Vanuatu: On November 18, 2013, Xie Bohua, Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu, held a welcome reception for the Guangdong People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the medical delegation. Acting Prime Minister of Vanuatu, Moana Carcasses Kalosil, attended the event upon invitation. He extended a warm welcome to the delegation and highly praised the Chinese doctors for their "bringing medical services to the islands" initiative. He stated that Vanuatu's public health sector is underdeveloped and faces a shortage of medical resources, with only two ophthalmologists in the entire country, which is insufficient to meet patient needs. The ophthalmologists from Guangdong provided free consultations and surgeries for cataract patients in Vanuatu, which was a timely help that brought light to those suffering from cataracts. On behalf of the government and people of Vanuatu, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Guangdong People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the medical mission, hoping that China would send more such medical teams in the future to enhance the friendship between the two peoples and promote the continuous development of bilateral relations.

Zhang Weidong, head of the delegation and Vice President of the Guangdong People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, stated that since 2009, Guangdong Province has sent friendly delegations to Vanuatu four times, including medical and cultural performance groups. Although Guangdong and the Pacific island nations are far apart, they are not strangers to each other; many overseas Chinese from Guangdong invest and do business in Vanuatu, and many Vanuatu citizens study and conduct business in Guangdong. The Guangdong People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries is willing to continue strengthening exchanges with the people of Vanuatu and contribute to local economic and social development.
