Follow Vanuatu Investment Immigration and Vanuatu News: On November 18, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Vanuatu, Natapei, visited Shangluo to inspect the distribution of Chinese pistache resources. Wei Zengjun, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, accompanied him during the visit.

Natapei visited the Chinese pistache base in Kanshan Temple Village, Shahezi Town, Shangzhou District, to learn about the distribution and quality of Chinese pistache resources in Shangluo. He stated that the relationship between China and the Republic of Vanuatu is excellent and continues to grow. Currently, global climate change poses a challenge to all of humanity; only by utilizing more biodiesel and reducing reliance on petroleum can we effectively address this challenge. Natapei believes that the Chinese pistache in Shangluo is of high quality, has a high oil yield, and offers substantial output, providing broad prospects for biodiesel development. He looks forward to expanding cooperation and exchanges with Shangluo in more areas and hopes that more tourists and enterprises from Shangluo will visit and develop in Vanuatu.
The Republic of Vanuatu is an island nation in the Pacific with an economy primarily based on agriculture, and tourism is a significant source of national revenue. With rising sea levels caused by global warming, Pacific island nations face particularly severe challenges. It is understood that the Republic of Vanuatu plans to cooperate with China to develop biodiesel projects, and the purpose of this visit to Shangluo was to inspect its Chinese pistache resources. The Chinese pistache is a woody oil-bearing tree species; its seeds can be used for edible oil and for extracting biodiesel. It is distributed across all seven counties and districts of Shangluo, with a total area exceeding 1.2 million mu and an annual output of 2 million kilograms. Given that the oil content of Shangluo's Chinese pistache is as high as 40%, it is expected to become a raw material for biodiesel developed in cooperation with Vanuatu.
