South Korea's deposit-based investment immigration, officially known by the Ministry of Justice as the Public Business Investment Immigration Program, refers to investing a specified minimum amount (currently 1.5 billion KRW) into a bank designated by the Ministry of Justice. Upon doing so, the applicant and their accompanying family members are granted an F2 residency card. By maintaining this investment for at least 5 years under the F2 residency status, they will be granted an F5 permanent residency card.

After obtaining F5 permanent residency, you may withdraw your principal investment. The South Korean government does not pay interest but returns the principal. Essentially, the government uses your principal for public welfare for 5 years; your principal remains intact, just without interest. Now you understand why it is officially called the Public Business Investment Immigration Program!

03. Deposit-Based Immigration Application Procedure
1. Preliminary Review
We accompany the investor to the immigration office in South Korea for a preliminary review before the investment. The immigration office will check whether the investor has a criminal record and meets the immigration standards. If the investor does not have a valid visa to enter South Korea, they must first obtain a short-term visa.
2. Account Opening and Remittance
After passing the review, the investor will apply for a dedicated investment account at a bank designated by the South Korean government. Our company will guide the investor in remitting funds from abroad to South Korea.
Usually, international USD remittances arrive the next day. Once the funds arrive, you will go to the bank to complete the foreign exchange settlement procedures, obtain the relevant certificates, and prepare for the visa application.
3. Issuance and Entry
The investor will go to the South Korean immigration office to apply for an F2 residency card. It is expected to be approved within 10 working days, at which point the card will be issued. After obtaining the status, you can immediately apply for visas for your family members to enter the country and apply for their residency cards.
The investor can enter South Korea first to obtain the F2 status and then apply for their family, or the investor and their family can enter together to apply for F2 residency cards.
