It is known that after July 24, 2023, mainland investors will not be able to purchase A-shares through the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Connect.
According to the official website of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, the revised "Regulations on the Mutual Market Access Mechanism between the Mainland and Hong Kong Stock Markets" have been implemented since July 25, 2022. Hong Kong brokers are no longer allowed to open new trading permissions for mainland investors in the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Connect. According to the arrangement, a one-year transition period has been set, allowing mainland investors who have already opened trading permissions for the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Connect to continue trading A-shares through these channels until July 23, 2023. After July 24, investors can continue to sell their existing A-shares.
This means that starting from July 24 of this year, Hong Kong brokers will no longer be able to open new trading permissions for mainland investors in the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Connect. Existing investors will not be able to actively purchase A-shares through these channels, but they can continue to sell their existing A-shares. The trading permissions for mainland investors without holdings will be promptly canceled by Hong Kong brokers.
According to the regulations, mainland investors include individuals holding identification documents from mainland China, legal entities registered in mainland China, and unincorporated organizations, but do not include Chinese citizens who have obtained permanent residency documents from abroad. In other words, if a mainland investor has obtained permanent residency abroad, they can purchase A-shares through the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Connect.
This once again proves the importance and necessity of identity planning!
In recent years, identity planning has become a necessary consideration for many families. Overseas identity planning not only provides more possibilities for children's education and employment but also facilitates better global asset allocation and wealth inheritance.
Option One: Greece
For investors, Greece is a good choice. This ancient yet vibrant country, with its rich cultural heritage, beautiful natural scenery, stable political environment, and good educational and medical resources, has become an increasingly popular destination for immigration. Starting from August 1, the investment threshold for the Greek Golden Visa has officially doubled from €250,000 to €500,000 in certain areas! According to the amendment, regions such as Eastern and Western Attica and Piraeus will maintain the €250,000 policy, and it will continue to allow investment combinations through the purchase of multiple properties to meet the threshold amount. For investors, this represents a new opportunity after the price increase for property immigration in Greece. Investors choosing to purchase properties starting from €250,000 in non-price-increase areas can apply for Greek permanent residency visas for three generations of their family, making it a cost-effective option.
Option Two: Spain
At the same time, for those looking to immigrate to Europe, Spain is also a good choice for investors. Investors can also purchase properties starting from €500,000 through the Spanish property investment immigration program, allowing three generations of the family to apply for Spanish residency. The application conditions are simple, with no language, educational, or business background requirements; there are no residency requirements, only one entry during the validity period is needed; holding a Spanish residence card allows free movement within the 27 Schengen countries, and if the relevant conditions are met, children can participate in the Overseas Chinese Student Examination as overseas Chinese students, easily gaining admission to prestigious universities such as 985 and 211, enjoying education in mainland universities. At the same time, if the relevant conditions are met, one can apply for citizenship and obtain a Spanish EU passport, enjoying the generous benefits of EU citizens.
Option Three: Malta
Additionally, for investors looking to immigrate to Europe, Malta, known as the "Four-in-One Country," is also a popular choice. Now is a great time to apply for immigration to Malta, as applicants only need to invest starting from €60,000 to immigrate to Malta for four generations of their family, obtaining permanent residency in Malta in one step! This program has no language, educational, business background, or source of funds requirements, making the application conditions simpler, the process easier, and the investment amount lower!
