Starting September 1, 2023, Chinese airlines were permitted to increase direct flights from 12 to 18 per week. Starting October 29, 2023, they were permitted to increase from 18 to 24 per week. Now, starting November 9, 2023, Chinese airlines are permitted to increase from 24 to 35 direct flights per week.
According to the principle of reciprocity, the 35-flight quota also applies to U.S. airlines. This means that in the 2023/2024 winter-spring season, the total number of flights is expected to increase from the current 48 to 70 per week, with airlines from both sides operating 35 flights each.
