Canada has reopened its border as scheduled according to its previously announced plan. Effective August 9, Canada opened the border between the United States and Canada. This marks the first time Canada has reopened its border to the United States since the outbreak of the pandemic, following a 17-month closure.
Travelers must meet the following conditions to be exempt from quarantine:
1. Fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by Canada at least 14 days prior;
2. U.S. citizen or permanent resident;
3. Must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours prior;
4. Use the ArriveCAN app or online portal to upload their vaccination details;
5. Fully vaccinated travelers who have recovered from the disease and are eligible to enter Canada may present proof of a positive molecular test taken 14 to 90 days prior to entry.
Meanwhile, according to Canada's previously announced border reopening plan, starting September 7, Canada will allow fully vaccinated travelers from all other countries to enter Canada without the need for quarantine. In addition, the Canadian government reminds all travelers that regardless of whether they have received a vaccine approved by Canada before entry, they must prepare a quarantine plan in advance in case they are infected during their travel. Canadian border officials have the authority to determine whether a traveler meets the requirements for quarantine exemption.
Regarding the reopening of borders, Trudeau emphasized that the safety of Canadians remains the top priority. On the other hand, as the pandemic gradually slows down globally, opening the borders is of great significance for Canada to revitalize its tourism industry. At the same time, with the gradual opening of Canada's borders, Canada will see a peak in overseas applicants, which will also contribute to the million-immigrant plan and continuously strengthen the efforts to attract new immigrants. Of course, we do not know for sure whether the border will be successfully reopened as scheduled; Worldway will continue to pay close attention and share any news with you as soon as it becomes available.
For immigrant investors, it is great news if Canada reopens its borders. Since most investment-based immigration programs, such as the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) for entrepreneurs, New Brunswick Entrepreneurial Stream, Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) for business, and Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) for entrepreneurs, require an initial visit to the local area for inspection, investors have been unable to travel to Canada due to the pandemic. With the opening of Canada's borders, investors interested in immigrating through these programs can start making preparations in advance. Once the borders are open, with the assistance of Worldway, you can travel to Canada for inspection as soon as possible and submit your EOI early—apply early for peace of mind!
