The South Australian government recently announced that it would open state nominations for the 188A Business Innovation visa, 188B Investor visa, and 188C Significant Investor visa on July 20, 2021.
The initial application for the South Australia 188A visa remains consistent with the latest requirements of the Department of Home Affairs. However, after the 188A visa is granted, the requirements for transitioning to the 888 permanent residence visa have been updated. The South Australian government has once again categorized the 188A to 888 application requirements based on age and investment region: those over 55 and those under 55; and investments in South Australia's central city versus regional areas. Details are provided in the table below:
For the South Australia 188B visa, applicants under 55 must invest AUD 2.5 million in complying investment products; applicants over 55 must invest AUD 3.75 million in complying investment products. The 188C visa requirements remain in line with those of the Department of Home Affairs, requiring an investment of AUD 5 million in specified fund types.
In addition, the South Australian government previously required applicants for business investment migration to have visited South Australia and to provide an Intention To Apply (ITA). Recently, South Australia announced the simplification of the application process for the Australian 188 business visa for the 2021-2022 fiscal year, canceling the business visit and ITA requirements. For applicants of the 188 category, this means the application process for South Australian state nomination is simpler than in the previous fiscal year.
At the same time, South Australia will conduct state nomination application reviews for 188 category visas in four rounds during the 2021-22 fiscal year to effectively manage the quotas provided by the federal Department of Home Affairs throughout the year.
Round 1: August 02, 2021 - September 24, 2021
Round 2: October 25, 2021 - December 17, 2021
Round 3: January 31, 2022 - March 25, 2022
Round 4: May 02, 2022 - June 24, 2022
Note: The application assessment schedule may be affected by the volume of applications received and will be adjusted accordingly throughout the program year after each assessment round is completed.
