Recently, Chris Fearne, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health of Malta, announced that effective July 14, 2021, only individuals holding a vaccination certificate recognized by Malta, the United Kingdom, or the European Union are permitted to enter the country. Consequently, Malta has become the first EU nation to close its borders to those who are not fully vaccinated.
The only exceptions to these new regulations are children aged 5-12 who are not vaccinated; they will be permitted entry if they present a negative test result and are accompanied by fully vaccinated parents or guardians. Children under the age of 5 do not need to provide proof of a negative nucleic acid test when accompanied by fully vaccinated parents or guardians.
Previously, visitors from EU countries and several other nations were permitted entry if they had a negative nucleic acid test or were vaccinated. However, following the announcement of the new policy, only those with a valid, recognized vaccination certificate may enter Malta. In response, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malta issued an advisory to remind Chinese citizens planning to travel to Malta to closely monitor the adjustments to Malta's entry and epidemic prevention policies and to plan their trips with caution.
As one of the countries with the highest vaccination rates, Malta is considered a role model by other EU member states. To date, Malta has fully vaccinated 79% of its adult population, and the government aims to increase this figure to over 85%. In recent years, Malta's advanced and robust medical facilities and sound healthcare system have been highly favored by numerous investors. In the World Health Organization's new global medical system ranking, Malta ranks fifth. Choosing the medical hub of Malta offers many advantages!
