Recently, the Canadian government announced new entry requirements: travelers entering Canada must download the "ArriveCan" app in advance and register their information to gain entry. Specifically, starting from November 21, 2020, visitors traveling to Canada by air must submit their flight information, contact details, self-isolation plan, and self-diagnosis of COVID-19 symptoms through the ArriveCAN mobile application or website before boarding, and present the ArriveCan report upon entry.
According to the announcement, entrants must prepare their entry credentials upon arrival and present them to customs. Visitors who fail to submit electronic information before boarding may face penalties ranging from warnings to fines of up to 1,000 CAD. Exceptions apply to individuals who cannot submit documents electronically due to personal circumstances (such as disabilities or lack of infrastructure). Additionally, the Canadian government encourages travelers entering Canada by land or sea to use ArriveCAN to provide information before arrival to avoid delays due to public health issues.
At the same time, the Canadian government requires all travelers upon entry to confirm their arrival at the isolation location within 48 hours and to report their self-diagnosis of COVID-19 daily during the self-isolation period. They can report their situation using ArriveCAN or by calling 1-833-641-0343.
Currently, the "ArriveCan" app is available on Apple's App Store and Android's Google Play. However, this app currently only supports English, French, and Spanish. If individuals who are not proficient in English are coming to Canada, their family members should prepare in advance to avoid complications upon entry.
