Recently, the Portuguese government announced adjustments to its entry epidemic prevention measures effective from August 1. The main content includes:
Portugal will continue to maintain flights with EU countries, Schengen Area countries, and the United Kingdom, and will maintain regular air traffic with China, Australia, Canada, South Korea, Japan, and 12 other countries. Passengers arriving from these countries will only need to undergo temperature checks at the airport, and those with abnormal temperatures will be subject to relevant epidemic prevention measures.
Except for the aforementioned "white list" countries, passengers arriving from other countries must board with a negative nucleic acid test certificate issued within 72 hours; otherwise, airlines will not allow them to board (except for passengers in transit who do not leave the airport transit area).
According to the regulations, currently, passengers flying from China to Portugal do not need a negative nucleic acid test certificate, and those transiting in Portugal (without leaving the airport) also do not need a negative nucleic acid test certificate. This is undoubtedly great news for many Chinese passengers. It means that entering Portugal will become much easier!
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Portugal's epidemic prevention measures have been regarded as a "model in Europe." Following special reports by The New York Times, The Guardian, CNN, and the Spanish media El País on the Portuguese government's efforts and early measures in combating the pandemic, the Financial Times of the United States also published articles highly praising Portugal's proactive measures in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, effectively controlling the infection and mortality rates. Currently, Portugal has shifted from comprehensive epidemic prevention to a dual approach of combating the pandemic and economic recovery.
Of course, as the pandemic situation changes, Portugal's entry epidemic prevention measures are still being dynamically adjusted. The Chinese Embassy in Portugal reminds Chinese citizens planning to travel to Portugal or transit through Portugal to closely monitor the relevant measures from the Portuguese government, and to confirm boarding verification requirements with airlines in advance to avoid delays, repatriation, and economic losses due to inability to board or enter.
