The simple and honest people of Vanuatu are guarding their beautiful homeland with heart, waiting for their next reunion with tourists from all over the world. They say to the world: "We’ll keep it beautiful for you!"
Recently, stakeholders in Vanuatu have identified several actions aimed at reviving the tourism industry. Roy Mickey Joy, Director General of the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Ni-Vanuatu Business (MTTCNVB), confirmed that from now until December 2020, efforts will be made to better serve the tourism economy through improved transportation and safety management.
These activities were agreed upon following extensive consultations between the government and the private sector, through the work of the Vanuatu Tourism Crisis Response and Recovery Plan (VTCRRP) Advisory Committee, which has been working with and providing advice to the Director of Tourism. The plan identifies five pillars and outcomes to be achieved with the goals of restoring international access and reviving the tourism industry, protecting safety and livelihoods, and promoting economic recovery:
The first phase begins with safeguarding the health of Vanuatu citizens and visitors. This is to enable Vanuatu to safely accept the movement of people from countries with no or few COVID-19 cases, and to have confidence in Vanuatu's domestic public health systems and facilities.
The second phase is access. This includes the international movement of people and ensuring an appropriate and effective transport sector, which includes aviation and cruise ship plans.
The third phase is ensuring that tourism businesses are prepared following the impact of COVID-19 and TC Harold. They must be financially viable, appropriately supported, and ready to launch their tourism products in a safe manner.
The fourth phase is meeting the international community's demand for Vanuatu's tourism industry. We need to convey messages that drive stronger demand for Vanuatu tourism, and hope to enter the New Zealand and Australian Pacific tourism packages through a targeted approach.
The fifth phase is community communication. Developing and launching appropriate communication strategies across Vanuatu to provide guidance and relevant information on the changes taking place, and ensuring community engagement.
COVID-free Vanuatu, an excellent destination for health and status planning
A sudden COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the rhythm of daily travel and locked our steps. Remarkably, in order to keep Vanuatu pure, beautiful, and full of laughter, the Vanuatu government has made great efforts to keep the novel coronavirus out of the country, achieving "zero COVID-19 cases" nationwide.
To date, Vanuatu has no confirmed cases of COVID-19 and is one of the few countries in the world that remains uninfected. As a world-renowned tourist destination, Vanuatu is adjacent to Australia and New Zealand, with a beautiful natural environment and pleasant climate. It has been rated as the "happiest country in the world" by the New Economics Foundation in the UK, making it an ideal place for investment, residence, and retirement!
The Vanuatu Development Support Program (DSP) has many advantages, with frequent good news recently
Recently, the Vanuatu government has launched a number of favorable policies for immigration applications. The Vanuatu Citizenship Office has adopted online operations and accepts electronic submissions! The new immigration act for global investors—the Vanuatu Development Support Program (DSP)—even allows for oath-taking without leaving the country, and passport applicants can obtain their passports through video oath-taking.
