Foreigners currently vacationing in Greece are urged to limit their activities in Greece, and those who have voluntarily quarantined may leave Greece before the 14-day period expires.
Greek and EU citizens may enter Greece. Please note that a 14-day voluntary quarantine is mandatory from the date of entry. Those who violate this obligation will face administrative fines.
According to Decision No. D1a/GP.oik.19030 of the Greek Minister of Citizen Protection, Minister of Health, and Minister of Interior:
1. To prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in Greece and to protect public health, the entry of all third-country citizens into Greece from any entry point and by any means, including air, sea, rail, and road, is temporarily restricted.
2. The restrictions in Article 1 of this decision do not apply to citizens of EU member states and Schengen countries, including their spouses or persons with whom they have established a civil partnership, and their minor children.
3. The duration of the restrictions in this decision is from 6:00 AM on March 18, 2020, to 6:00 AM on April 18, 2020.
4. The following personnel are not included in the scope of the restrictions of this decision:
a) Medical staff, researchers, and professionals in the health sector, provided they present their professional licenses or other relevant documents proving their profession at the Greek port of entry, on the condition that they are immediately integrated into the management of the Greek National Health System;
b) Long-term residents of EU/Schengen member states and third-country citizens holding residence permits for EU/Schengen member states;
c) Members of government missions;
d) Members of diplomatic or consular missions and delegations, members of international and European organizations, members of humanitarian organizations performing their duties, and military and security personnel;
e) Truck drivers and essential transport personnel for the transport of goods;
f) Transit passengers.
5. Restricted third-country citizens who have a special need to enter Greece for professional or personal reasons have the right to apply to the Greek consular authority in their area of residence.
