Recently, the Vanuatu National Statistics Office released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the third quarter of 2019. The data shows that the CPI in September 2019 rose by 1.2% compared to the previous quarter. The expenditure categories contributing to the CPI increase were: food, housing supplies, communications, housing utilities, transport, and miscellaneous. Expenditures on tobacco, health, recreation, and education remained unchanged. However, clothing and footwear decreased by 0.4% compared to the previous quarter.
What is the CPI?
CPI is the abbreviation for Consumer Price Index. It has always been one of the key indicators for a country to assess economic development. It reflects price changes in products and services related to residents' daily lives and is typically used as an important indicator for observing inflation levels.
Vanuatu's CPI is in an ideal range
Generally, market economy countries consider a CPI growth rate of 2%-3% to be within an acceptable range. An increase in CPI indicates an increase in private consumption, which can stimulate the economy and play a positive role in economic development. Judging from the CPI data released by the Vanuatu National Statistics Office in recent years, its CPI growth has consistently remained within an ideal range.
Vanuatu is increasingly favored by global investors
Vanuatu has a high degree of market openness and convenience, a relatively sound legal system, and a government that encourages foreign investment, with a continuously improving investment environment. Vanuatu offers preferential tax policies, with no personal income tax, corporate tax, capital gains tax, or inheritance tax. In recent years, benefiting from its superior tax system and booming tourism industry, Vanuatu has continuously attracted international capital, possessing broad development prospects and significant investment opportunities!
New Act, New Program, New Price
In 2019, the Vanuatu government passed and enacted the Citizenship (Amendment) Act No. 34 of 2018 and the Nationality (Development Support Program) Regulation No. 33 of 2019, launching the Vanuatu Development Support Program (DSP) for global investors and standardizing global pricing.
