On July 9, Canadian time, the BC Provincial Immigration Office announced the results of the latest round of immigration selections, issuing a total of 218 ITA invitations. The BC Provincial Government has signed an agreement with the Government of Canada to establish immigration programs and policies that are suitable for the province's economic development and employment needs. At the same time, it has the right to independently select and nominate immigration applicants and issue nomination certificates. Applicants can apply for Canadian permanent residency to the federal immigration department with the nomination certificate and obtain a Permanent Resident Card. For example: BCPNP and EEBC
The requirements and procedures for EEBC and the regular category of BCPNP are completely consistent, and the processing time for the provincial nomination stage is also the same. The only difference is in the quotas; EEBC requires applicants to first meet the scoring requirements of the federal Express Entry (EE) program and obtain an EE Profile Number before applying under the EEBC category. The final immigration process is also completed under the federal EE program, not BCPNP. Therefore, it can be understood that the EEBC program simply adds 600 points to the EE through the nomination from the province of British Columbia, ultimately connecting to the Express Entry fast-track immigration program.
The regular BCPNP program is not subject to this requirement; as long as the applicant obtains employer sponsorship, they can submit an application. However, the federal processing is relatively slow, usually taking about a year and a half. Therefore, in terms of speed, it is still not as fast as the EEBC program.
The BC Provincial Nominee Program is roughly divided into the following categories:
EEBC Express Entry Skilled Worker Category
EEBC Express Entry International Student Category
Regular Skilled Worker Category
Regular International Student Category
Low-Skilled Occupation Category
Technology Sector Category
Healthcare Sector Category
BC Provincial Entrepreneur Immigration Category
BC Provincial Remote Area Entrepreneur Category
Scoring Requirements
Whether it is the EEBC Express Entry program or the regular BCPNP program, the scoring criteria, approval time, and processing procedures are the same. The scoring criteria are mainly divided into six major categories: guaranteed position, guaranteed salary, work location, education level, work experience, and language proficiency. The first three items mainly come from employer sponsorship, accounting for 120 points, while the last three items are based on the applicant's own factors, accounting for 80 points, with a total score of 200 points. Therefore, the importance of employer sponsorship is evident. The current selection score for the international student category is around 95 points, while for the skilled worker category, it is around 85 points.
