Worldway Group has received major good news: the Vanuatu Immigration Service (VIS) has issued a new announcement stating that starting July 23, the validity of all newly applied Vanuatu passports will be extended from the original 5 years to 10 years, meaning they will only need to be renewed every 10 years!
It is reported that the Vanuatu Immigration Service passport office will be temporarily closed from July 17 to July 29, 2019, for system upgrades. Technicians will strengthen the security features of Vanuatu passports and extend their validity. Worldway experts state that this extension of the Vanuatu passport's validity will make travel more convenient for passport holders, which is undoubtedly a major benefit for investors!
According to the Passport Act promulgated by the Vanuatu government in 2009, only Vanuatu citizens can obtain a Vanuatu passport. Citizens of other countries can make donations to Vanuatu through the DSP/VCP programs and, after passing the due diligence check by the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), can obtain Vanuatu citizenship and a passport.
It is worth noting that since the adoption of the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program, the number of Vanuatu CBI passports issued has seen record growth. Vanuatu issued over 1,800 CBI passports in 2018, a trend that continued to rise in the first half of 2019 and is expected to persist in the second half! At the same time, the revenue generated by the Vanuatu Citizenship by Investment program has significantly increased as a proportion of total government revenue.
In 2016, Vanuatu legislated the Citizenship by Investment program—the Contribution Program. Foreign nationals can quickly obtain a Vanuatu passport and become a Vanuatu citizen by making a donation to the Vanuatu government, enjoying the same rights to live, study, reside, and work as local citizens. The Vanuatu passport is highly sought after by high-net-worth individuals due to its low investment amount, ultra-fast approval, simple documentation, direct citizenship, favorable tax system, and extensive visa-free access. In April 2018, the Vanuatu government amended the act, significantly lowering the threshold for citizenship by investment; the investment amount for a single applicant was reduced from the original $130,000 to the current $80,000. The amendment took effect on April 27, 2018.
Advantages of the Vanuatu Passport Program
1. With an investment starting from $80,000, a family of three generations can apply and quickly obtain a Commonwealth passport;
2. Fully supported by the Vanuatu government, with easy background checks and ultra-fast approval, generally taking only 6-8 weeks;
3. No immigration supervision, no requirement to land, and simple passport renewal;
4. Visa-free, visa-on-arrival, or e-visa access to over 140 countries and regions, including EU countries such as the UK, France, Germany, and Italy, as well as Asian countries/regions such as Hong Kong (China), Singapore, and Malaysia, making travel convenient;
5. Eligible children can enjoy free, authentic British-style education in Vanuatu. If returning to China for further studies as an international student, those who meet the criteria can easily enroll in top domestic universities without a written entrance exam. Most Commonwealth countries recognize each other's academic credits, allowing for transfers to other Commonwealth countries for study;
6. No foreign exchange controls, favorable tax system, no personal income tax, corporate tax, capital gains tax, or inheritance tax, and no global taxation;
7. Beautiful environment, a vacation paradise.
