How to interpret the visa bulletin?
The Department of State releases the visa bulletin for the following month in mid-month; for example, the bulletin released in mid-July pertains to the August visa bulletin. If your priority date is current, you must wait until after August 1 to submit your application. Do not submit it on July 20, even if it is just one day early, as it will be rejected due to not meeting submission eligibility.
What is a priority date?
The Priority Date (PD) is the date you began your immigration application, such as when the Department of Labor received your Form 9089, or when the USCIS received your I-526/130/140. This date is indicated in the upper left corner of your I-797.
