Generally, applying to a Canadian high school requires providing transcripts from the past three years.
When applying to study in a Canadian high school, a significant number of school boards require students to provide their current transcripts (if available) and transcripts from the past two years. For instance, if your child has just entered the ninth grade and does not have first semester grades for ninth grade, then providing the midterm and final grades from the seventh and eighth grades will suffice for the application. However, some school boards explicitly state that they require transcripts from the last three years. In such cases, for a ninth-grade student who only has two years of grades, it is recommended to provide the transcript from sixth grade.
The requirements for transcripts vary among public school boards in Canada:
- West Vancouver School District: Provide transcripts from the past three years.
- Richmond School District: Submit transcripts from the last three years.
- Surrey School District requires: the latest transcripts (at least 5 semesters).
- School boards in British Columbia, such as Burnaby School District, Langley School District, Vancouver School District, Delta School District, Maple Ridge School District, Coquitlam School District, Victoria School District, Saanich School District, etc., require providing grades from the most recent semester (if available) and transcripts from the last two years.
- School boards in Ontario, such as Toronto District School Board, Toronto Catholic District School Board, York District School Board, York Catholic District School Board, etc., require providing grades from the most recent semester (if available) and transcripts from the last two years.
