It is best to provide bank statements for the last 6 months (half a year) when applying for a Canadian visa, unless you are a recent graduate who has been employed for 3 months, or you have just joined your current company 3 months ago.
When applying for a Canadian visa, whether it is for tourism, visiting family, or business, you are usually required to provide proof of assets. Asset documentation may include:
1. Original bank statements for the last 6 months
Original bank statements for the last 6 months for a current account or bank card under the applicant's name. It is best to use salary account statements to prove income. It is recommended that the balance exceeds 30,000 RMB to demonstrate the ability to cover the travel expenses. You may also use statements from multiple cards to prove income and balance.
2. Original credit card statements for 3 months
Credit card statements for 3 months under the applicant's name, either the original copy mailed by the bank or a printout of an e-statement sent by the bank, to prove the applicant's spending capacity.
3. Copy of fixed deposit certificate
A copy of a fixed deposit certificate under the applicant's or their spouse's name. If providing a certificate under the spouse's name, a copy of the marriage certificate must also be provided. This is used to prove the applicant's financial status. It is recommended that the fixed deposit account was opened more than 3 months ago and the amount exceeds 50,000 RMB.
4. Original certificate of deposit of 50,000 RMB
The original certificate of deposit issued by the bank. It is recommended that the amount be no less than 50,000 RMB, frozen for at least 3 months, and the freeze period must extend beyond the date of return to your home country.
5. Copy of vehicle registration certificate
A copy of the vehicle registration certificate under the applicant's or their spouse's name, used to prove the applicant's fixed assets.
6. Copy of property deed or purchase contract
A copy of the property deed or purchase contract under the applicant's or their spouse's name, used to prove the applicant's fixed assets.
Warm Tips:
Although the Canadian Embassy does not explicitly state a minimum requirement for bank deposits, providing more bank deposits and other financial proof will help in obtaining a visa. This is the best evidence for an applicant to prove they have "strong ties." For example, ties can include employment, residence, family members, and bank deposits. "Ties" involve all aspects of a person's life that create a strong connection to their home country: such as property, career, social, and family relationships.
The following materials are not mandatory, but providing them may help you obtain a visa. Please provide them at your discretion:
1. International travel insurance policy (optional)
According to local policies, for stays in Canada of 6 months or less, you must show a minimum medical expense coverage of 500,000 RMB. At the same time, it is strongly recommended that applicants aged 75 and over provide a policy to prove that their insurance is sufficient to cover their health needs while in Canada.
- Please purchase via the travel insurance channel
2. Copy of planned itinerary (optional)
Please attach a planned itinerary in both Chinese and English to demonstrate the applicant's travel plans to the visa officer.
3. Copy of flight booking confirmation (optional)
A round-trip flight booking confirmation issued by a travel agent or airline.
4. Electronic copy of hotel confirmation (optional)
If you have already booked a hotel, please provide a genuine hotel booking confirmation. It must be in English and show that payment has been successfully completed. The hotel booking channel at the Visa Application Centre can provide hotel bookings for visa application materials.
5. Original photos of famous foreign attractions (optional)
Photos of the applicant taken at famous foreign attractions, preferably photos with the applicant in them, to assist in proving a genuine travel history.
6. Original family portrait (optional)
A family portrait of the applicant, reflecting a harmonious family relationship, used to prove ties to the home country.
