After obtaining a new passport, a Canadian visa on the old passport can still be used for entry. According to the new regulations from the Canadian Immigration Department: as long as the visa is still valid, the holder does not need to reapply for a visa and can enter Canada with both the new and old passports.
If the old passport is unusable for any reason, a visa transfer procedure can be applied for:
1. Original old passport.
2. Original new passport.
3. A signed explanatory letter from the applicant.
Notes:
During the process of obtaining a new passport, it is important to avoid damage to the valid visa page. Otherwise, using both the new and old passports may affect departure, and a new visa application will be required.
If a new visa application is needed, the required materials are as follows:
1. A signed explanatory letter from the applicant.
2. Original new passport.
3. Original old passport.
4. Two recent color passport photos with a white background taken within the last six months.
5. A copy of the applicant's valid ID (front and back).
6. Proof of assets: original bank statement for the last six months from a salary account.
7. Original employment verification letter.
8. A copy of the business license or organization code certificate.
9. A copy of the planned itinerary.
10. Application forms:
- Temporary Resident Visa Application Form (IMM5257E)
- Family Information Form (IMM5645E)
