Studying in Spain can be considered a dream for many students. Spain has a long educational history, numerous prestigious universities, and a high level of recognition worldwide. However, studying in Spain is not a simple matter; one must first meet certain requirements. Given the current popularity of studying in Spain among students, we have compiled the requirements for studying in Spain, hoping to assist those who intend to study there.
1. Pathways for Graduate Studies:
1. No prior knowledge of Spanish:
a. Complete 500 hours of Spanish language study in China, achieving at least A2 level.
b. Apply to a language school to study Spanish locally for at least 9 months, with 20-25 hours of classes per week, reaching B2 level.
c. Apply for graduate studies through the university's official website.
2. Minimum Spanish proficiency of B1 level, with most universities requiring B2:
a. Language certificates (DELE > SIELE > Cervantes Institute language proficiency certificates > Spanish Level 4 and 8).
b. Apply for graduate studies through the university's official website.
2. Language School Application Requirements:
1. Educational requirements:
A diploma from a college or higher.
2. Language requirements:
Complete a 500-hour Spanish language course in China, lasting 3.5 months, achieving daily conversational proficiency, i.e., A2 level.
3. Important considerations:
When applying for courses at foreign language schools, students need to consider whether the language school is qualified to enroll international students. They should also pay attention to the study duration, ideally choosing 20-25 hours per week for more than 36 weeks. This is to demonstrate to the embassy the purpose of their study and to obtain a one-year residence card.
3. Master's Degree Application Requirements:
1. Educational requirements:
A diploma from a college or higher. Students with lower qualifications, such as vocational school diplomas, cannot apply for a master's degree. For those in this situation who wish to study in Spain quickly, the simplest path is to obtain a college diploma in China. Regular three-year full-time college programs or programs that allow for transfer to a bachelor's degree can apply for official master's programs in Spain. Of course, regardless of your educational background, you must obtain your diploma before enrollment. You cannot apply early or study for a master's degree while still completing your undergraduate studies, nor can you enroll in a master's program if you are unable to graduate due to failing courses.
2. Language requirements:
a. If applying for English-taught programs:
It is recommended to achieve an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher! For related majors in science and engineering, the requirements can be relaxed.
b. If applying for Spanish-taught programs:
A minimum of B1 level from a language school or possession of certificates such as Level 4 or 8.
3. Document requirements:
The following documents are essential:
a. Graduation certificate and degree certificate (students from colleges only provide graduation certificates, current students provide proof of enrollment, and those transferring to a bachelor's degree can provide both).
b. Notarization + dual authentication.
c. Notarized transcripts + dual authentication (current students can initially use incomplete transcripts from 3-4 years).
d. Notarized proof of eligibility for graduate studies + dual authentication.
If the above documents have not yet been obtained, you need to request them from your department or the academic affairs office, and a stamp from the college or academic affairs office is acceptable.
Spain has a relaxed immigration policy, allowing for permanent residency applications after five years of residence. Additionally, Spain's education system is advanced, well-structured, and highly regarded. Public universities have very low or even free tuition. Furthermore, with the increasing trade relations between China and Spain, there is a growing need for professionals proficient in specialized knowledge and language and culture in various fields such as economy, culture, and education. Therefore, studying in Spain is undoubtedly a wise choice.
