According to the latest information obtained by Worldway Group, the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Program issued 851 passports in 2018, an increase of approximately 21% compared to 2017, generating 147 million Eastern Caribbean dollars in revenue, a growth of 25.6%. Data shows that in 2018, the program received a total of 313 applications (an increase of approximately 5.7% over 2017), approved 244 (an increase of approximately 25.7%), and rejected 13 (down from 25 the previous year).
Since the launch of the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Program in August 2013, a total of 2,080 people have obtained Grenadian citizenship through participation in the CIP. During the same period, main applicants submitted 875 applications, of which the Grenada CIU approved 615 and rejected 57 (an overall rejection rate of 8.4%), with 203 still pending approval.
Looking at the data, the investment type preferences of applicants have remained largely unchanged over the past two years: 34% of applicants chose the program's real estate investment option (36% chose this method in 2017), while 66% of applicants preferred to purchase government funds, i.e., donations (64% of applicants chose this method in 2017).
Recently, the government of Grenada announced a series of major changes to its Citizenship by Investment Program (for details, please see the Worldway Group report: Major! Grenada Citizenship by Investment Program Announces Four Major Policy Benefits). This new policy better meets the needs of applicants and their accompanying spouses, and clarifies that secondary buyers are also eligible to apply for citizenship by investment, which is undoubtedly great news for investors!
As the investment thresholds for some mainstream immigration countries continue to rise, and with long processing cycles, high costs, and time-consuming immigration residency requirements, the trend for investment immigration has begun to shift toward "short, flat, and fast" immigration projects. Among them, Grenada stands out for its short cycle and lack of residency requirements, making it increasingly popular among investors.
The Grenada Citizenship by Investment Program allows individuals and their families to obtain citizenship and permanent residency in Grenada. Applicants can donate at least $150,000 to the Grenada National Transformation Fund (NTF) or invest in government-approved real estate worth no less than $350,000 to apply for citizenship for four generations of their family and obtain Commonwealth citizenship.
