For many immigrants, understanding the various policies related to immigrating to the United States is essential when pursuing U.S. immigration programs. For those who have successfully obtained a U.S. Green Card, the next issue to address is how to apply for Green Cards for their relatives. Today, I will inform Green Card holders about the key issues to consider when applying for Green Cards for their relatives.
1. There is no waiting period for applying for Green Cards for parents, spouses, and minor children.
For many immigrants, after successfully applying for a U.S. Green Card, they often wish for their family members to join them in the United States. At this point, they will apply for Green Cards for their parents, spouses, and children. Some immigrants even wish to bring their siblings to the United States and apply for Green Cards for them. In fact, after successfully obtaining a U.S. Green Card, it is indeed possible to apply for Green Cards for parents, spouses, and children. However, there are certain requirements when applying for Green Cards, such as children must be minors, and parents must lack economic independence. There is no waiting period for applying for Green Cards for spouses and economically dependent parents, but if applying for other relatives, a waiting period is required. This means that when applying for Green Cards for siblings, a waiting period must be observed, as siblings can only apply for immigration under the fourth category, which has a longer waiting time.
2. Adopted children of siblings cannot immediately apply for immigration.
For some immigrants, in order to enable their siblings' children to successfully immigrate to the United States, they plan to apply for Green Cards for these children after obtaining their own Green Cards. To achieve this goal, they may even adopt their siblings' children. However, U.S. immigration policies state that adopted children of siblings cannot immediately apply for immigration; they must live together for two years before they can apply for U.S. immigration. However, if the adopted children are orphans without parents, there are no time requirements for applying for Green Cards for these orphans.
3. If parents are economically independent, Green Card holders cannot apply for immigration for them.
U.S. immigration policies state that when applying for immigration for parents, the parents must lack economic capability. If they are economically capable, Green Card holders cannot apply for immigration for them. Only spouses and minor children, as well as adult children who are unmarried, can immigrate with the immigrant.
4. Holders of temporary Green Cards can immediately apply for Green Cards for unmarried children.
When applying for a U.S. Green Card, it actually requires a long waiting time. For immigrants, after obtaining a temporary Green Card, they can start applying for Green Cards for their unmarried children. However, there are many processes that need to be completed when applying for Green Cards for children. Immigrants only need to follow the appropriate procedures and understand the relevant regulations to successfully complete the Green Card application.
