WorldWay has learned that the Greek Minister of Tourism, Elena Kountoura, recently held talks with the president of a Chinese airline to discuss the opening of a direct flight route between Shanghai and Athens. This route is expected to be launched in 2019.
Elena Kountoura stated that since the launch of the Beijing-Athens direct flight route in 2017, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Greece has increased by 70%. 2018 was one of the best years in the history of the Greek tourism industry, with international tourist arrivals reaching 33 million.
