As the Spring Festival approaches, many people plan to travel abroad during the holiday. Canada is one of the choices for many Chinese individuals. Today, the WorldWay Immigration Group will introduce some important information regarding the application for a Canadian visa.
If the applicant's old passport is undamaged and not soaked (excluding cases where the immigration authority has cut corners), and the passport pages are intact, a new passport can generally be used to enter Canada within the validity period of the visa. The applicant can apply for a visa transfer to move the valid Canadian visa to the new passport for continued use, or they may reapply for a new visa.
However, the embassy does not recommend processing a visa transfer. Normally, the validity period of a multiple-entry visa to Canada is generally consistent with the validity period of the passport. If a new passport is issued early and a visa transfer is required, the visa issued on the new passport will still have the same validity period as that on the old passport; if a new visa is reapplied for, even if there is a valid Canadian visa on the old passport, a new visa with a longer validity period can still be applied for.
Before applying for a visa transfer, please note the following:
1. Visa transfers are limited to passports issued by the same authority;
2. The applicant has not changed their name when renewing the passport;
3. The information on the valid Canadian visa page of the old passport must be complete and clear;
4. The visa transferred to the new passport must have the same validity period as the visa on the old passport;
5. Applicants for visa transfer must submit the following documents: original copies of the old and new passports, a photocopy of the information page of the new passport, and a completed and signed service agreement.
