Recently, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that when applying for a Canadian visa, Chinese citizens can now choose to submit a Sesame Credit visa report or provide traditional documents such as bank statements and deposit certificates as proof of financial and performance capability!
At the same time, the Canadian visitor visa checklist has been updated recently. For categories such as visiting relatives, tourism, short-term study, and group tours, the following text has been added:
“Original bank documents showing financial history over the past several months (e.g., deposit certificates, bank passbooks, etc.); or a Sesame Credit report obtained from the Alipay mobile app (for Chinese citizens)
Proof of assets in China (e.g., original property ownership certificates, original vehicle registration certificates, etc.); or a Sesame Credit report obtained from the Alipay mobile app (for Chinese citizens)”
This means that moving forward, when applying for a Canadian visa, you may no longer need to visit a bank to print transaction statements and deposit certificates.
Previously, when applying for a Canadian visa, Chinese citizens were generally required to prepare materials such as bank statements for the past 6 months and a bank deposit certificate of at least 50,000 RMB frozen for 3 months as proof of financial means.
Now, Chinese citizens have an additional option: they can choose to use a Sesame Credit visa report. Users with a Sesame Credit score of 750 or higher can open the Alipay app and find the Sesame Credit visa report service via “Sesame Credit — Credit Management — Sesame Visa Report”.
It should be noted that submitting a credit report does not affect the visa approval rate. The Sesame visa report is merely a supporting document to demonstrate family financial means and serves as a good record of family capital accumulation and history; however, it is not the sole document for visa approval. Whether a Canadian visa is granted still depends on the completeness of the overall application and the assessment of the visa officer.
The simplification of Canadian visa application materials is undoubtedly a major benefit for those planning to go to Canada. Furthermore, after December 31, Canadian visa applicants will be required to provide biometrics, which will increase both the difficulty and the cost. WorldWay Group reminds applicants who wish to apply for a Canadian visa in the near future to take advantage of this benefit and apply as soon as possible.
