There are various forms of Canadian immigration, among which Canadian skilled immigration is one of the most prominent and viable options. Skilled immigration is a form of independent immigration. Simply put, it involves applying for immigration based on the applicant's comprehensive strengths, such as educational background, professional skills, and language proficiency.
To date, there are 12 Canadian skilled immigration programs. Today, we will introduce the policies and requirements for the two most popular Canadian skilled immigration pathways.
The Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program (Express Entry) requires applicants to first register for Express Entry (EE). Once successfully registered, applicants enter a candidate pool, from which candidates are selected based on merit, with those having higher scores being prioritized. Selected applicants will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) and become eligible to apply for Canadian permanent resident status.
Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program Application Requirements:
1. The principal applicant must be at least 18 years old and have no criminal record.
2. The applicant's occupation must fall under the same occupational category in the NOC as level 0, A, or B. At least one year of work experience within the ten years prior to submitting the application is required.
3. The principal applicant must meet the CLB 7 level requirement in English (i.e., IELTS General Training with a score of 6.0 in each band) or the NCLC 7 level in French (both valid for 2 years).
4. A high school diploma or higher is required; overseas credentials must undergo an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
5. The self-assessment score must reach at least 67 points.
The Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program is suitable for applicants with high educational attainment, youth, and strong English or French proficiency. As long as English proficiency is high, one can apply regardless of their occupation. For applicants who do not have an age advantage, a strong IELTS score still provides a significant opportunity.
The Quebec Skilled Worker Program refers to immigrating based on one's own skills and talents without relying on sponsorship from others. As long as the applicant possesses a certain level of French and English proficiency, holds the required educational qualifications, and their occupation and expertise are in demand in the Quebec labor market, they are eligible to apply.
Quebec Skilled Worker Program Application Requirements:
1. At least six months of work experience, with the experience falling under one of the skill types 0, A, B, or C in the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
2. A diploma from a college or vocational high school or higher; higher educational attainment results in a higher score.
3. French proficiency at the B2 level, primarily focusing on listening and speaking.
4. Must provide a police certificate (no criminal record), be in good health, and demonstrate financial self-sufficiency.
5. Scoring is based on the Quebec Skilled Worker Program selection grid. For single applicants, the passing score is 49 points; for married applicants, the passing score is 57 points.
