According to TASS, the Russian government has approved a visa-waiver agreement with Dominica. In the future, citizens of Russia and Dominica will be able to travel visa-free, with a maximum stay of 3 months. With this, Dominica has officially become the fourth country with a Citizenship by Investment program to sign a mutual visa-exemption agreement with Russia.
"According to the draft agreement, citizens of both countries holding valid passports, including diplomatic, official, and ordinary passports, will enjoy visa-free treatment for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period," stated an official notice published on the Russian Cabinet's website.
More than three months ago, Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit announced that his government was in the final stages of negotiating visa-free agreements with Russia and the UAE, and that the country was also actively exploring the possibility of signing a similar agreement with China. Currently, the government of Dominica has appointed an ambassador to the Russian Federation.
Speaking at a panel discussion at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June 2017, Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit said that if these two regions are to benefit from the relationship being built, such a policy must be advanced. "We must advance visa-free entry into our countries, let us see the benefits of this integration, this cooperation, we must advance visa-free entry. From the perspective of the Caribbean region, we are prepared to participate in this visa-free regime to strengthen our relations and increase our business opportunities."
