Recently, in order to improve transport efficiency, the Ministry of Health of the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu is conducting a global tender, inviting drone companies from around the world to provide vaccine delivery services!
It is reported that this invitation allows up to 3 drone companies to conduct pilot drone delivery services on the islands of Pentecost, Epi & Shepherds, and Erromango. To provide a faster, more reliable, and more efficient mode of transport, the authorities hope that the relevant drone services can deliver vaccines to pharmacies, emergency stations, and mobile vaccination teams, and ensure that vaccines are kept in an environment between 2 and 8 degrees during transport.
The authorities expect to conduct field tests as early as September this year, lasting for about 2 months. Currently, 2 drone companies have expressed interest in bidding!
Vanuatu is composed of more than 80 islands, 65 of which are inhabited. For medical staff, delivering vaccines to these places is by no means simple! However, the Vanuatu government's move for the sake of its citizens' health is quite admirable!
