According to information provided by the Canada Customer Service Center of the WorldWay Group, the largest immigration fraud case in Canadian history was exposed in 2015. After the Chinese mastermind Wang Xun was convicted, the Canadian government continued to investigate the 1,600 immigrant clients handled by Wang Xun. So far, more than 500 individuals may lose their Canadian residency or citizenship and face deportation to China.
Lawyer Lawrence Wong, who defends some of Wang Xun's clients, argues that the Canadian government should not treat all of Wang Xun's clients as accomplices, as many of them are victims. "There is a lot of evidence showing that Wang Xun also deceived his clients, yet the government continues to claim they are conspirators, attempting to accuse them of perjury and trying to expel them from Canada." He stated that the court's ruling on these individuals will have destructive effects, potentially affecting their Canadian spouses and children born in Canada.
However, authorities countered: "The key issue is not whether these individuals were aware of Wang Xun's fraudulent methods. They became beneficiaries through improper means, and now, in order to retain this benefit, they claim to be victims." Government lawyers believe that these clients were not completely unaware of Wang Xun's actions; they simply chose to turn a blind eye.
Wang Xun, a Chinese immigrant to Canada in 1997, assisted over 1,000 clients from 2006 to 2013 in obtaining Canadian residency or citizenship through means such as forging passports and fabricating records of life in Canada, generating over 10 million Canadian dollars (approximately 230 million New Taiwan dollars) in revenue, and is suspected of tax evasion.
Wang Xun was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined 900,000 Canadian dollars (approximately 20.77 million New Taiwan dollars) at the end of 2015 and was released on parole at the end of last year. Meanwhile, hundreds of Chinese immigrants involved in this case face the grim fate of deportation!
The immigration experts at the WorldWay Group remind that immigration is an important life plan concerning the future of families. Applications must be submitted in accordance with the law, and one must never take shortcuts or engage in fraudulent activities; otherwise, in the end, it is oneself who suffers, harming both oneself and one's family, and causing harm to children!
