In recent years, the "Mediterranean" diet has become popular worldwide. Its style, which focuses on vegetables, fruits, fish, whole grains, legumes, and olive oil, is favored by an increasing number of people.
According to a report by the British newspaper The Daily Mail, researchers from New York University recently announced a study at the annual meeting of the American Thoracic Society (ATS). The study found that people who adhere to a "Mediterranean" diet have a 50% lower chance of dying from diseases caused by air pollution, as the antioxidants contained in the fruits, vegetables, and whole grains in this diet can mitigate the damage caused by air pollution to the human body.
Reportedly, over the past 17 years, New York University researchers conducted a study on approximately 548,700 adults across 6 U.S. states. During this period, they observed adults who were long-term exposed to areas with severe air pollution. They then studied their dietary habits to see if they followed a "Mediterranean" diet.
Finally, the study found that adults long-term exposed to areas with severe air pollution had a significantly increased probability of dying from heart disease. However, for those adults who adhered to a "Mediterranean" diet, the increase in mortality was not significant.
Data shows that for adults who do not have "Mediterranean" dietary habits, for every one-hundred-millionth increase in nitrogen oxides in the air, the probability of dying from heart disease increases by 10%. Similarly, if particulate matter in the air increases by 10 micrograms per cubic meter, their probability of dying from heart disease increases by 17%. For those whose dietary habits are very similar to the "Mediterranean" diet, under the same circumstances, their mortality rate only increased by 2% and 5% respectively.
"The romantic Aegean Sea, the leisurely Greeks." Greeks who enjoy the sun and beaches know how to live, and they are not careless about their diet. As part of Greek culture, Greek cuisine has a 4,000-year history; as early as 330 BC, the Greek Archestratus had already written the first cookbook in Western history.
In fact, the "Mediterranean" diet, which has become synonymous with health worldwide, also originated in Greece. As the birthplace of European dietary culture, the traditional Greek diet retains the most authentic "Mediterranean flavor," and good dietary habits have also contributed to Greece's reputation as a country of longevity. The average life expectancy of Greeks is 80.3 years, which has exceeded the world average age of 79.
Greece's healthy and long-lived Mediterranean lifestyle has also attracted wealthy individuals from around the world to invest in property there. With a minimum investment of 250,000 euros in real estate, you can obtain permanent residency in Greece for three generations of your family in one go, enjoy a healthy "Mediterranean" diet, and acquire high-quality Greek property with permanent ownership, enjoying the dividends brought by property appreciation. Investing in Greece by purchasing a property is, in effect, purchasing a healthy and international lifestyle for yourself and your family.
