Major Good News! The Canadian federal government plans to allocate 440 million Canadian dollars over the next three years to financially support the year-over-year increase in immigration numbers.
In November 2017, instead of announcing a one-year immigration plan as in previous years, the Canadian government released a three-year immigration plan, hailed as the historic "Million New Immigrants Plan": during the three-year period from 2018 to 2020, the number of immigrants accepted will be increased to nearly 1 million.
Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Ahmed Hussen stated that the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is a key driver of the three-year plan. Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points. The total quota for the Provincial Nominee Program will increase by 23% over the next three years, and it is estimated that the increased immigration quotas over the next three years will cost 440 million Canadian dollars.
Ahmed Hussen noted that the three-year target will also allow the government to cooperate with various organizations to better cope with the growth in immigration numbers, ensuring the capacity to receive new immigrants and help them successfully integrate into Canadian society.
The government has not yet released a breakdown of these costs.
Since the Canadian government launched the "Million New Immigrants Plan," Canadian immigration policies have consistently shown a trend of liberalization, such as opening 7 new visa application centers in China, lowering the threshold for citizenship, reopening the Parents and Grandparents Program, raising the maximum age for dependent children, reducing the citizenship application fee for minors by 430 Canadian dollars, and the government allocating 440 million Canadian dollars to attract immigrants. It is evident that the golden age for immigrating to Canada has arrived.
Investing in immigration to Canada offers many advantages, such as a passport ranked fourth globally; immigrant children can enjoy free top-tier educational resources from elementary to high school, and university tuition fees at the local resident rate (approximately one-fifth of that for international students); Canada's livable environment and advanced, comprehensive social welfare system allow families to enjoy a high quality of life, ensuring care for the elderly and support for the young. At the same time, starting a business or investing in Canada allows one to benefit from the preferential policies of a major economy, enter the world's leading capital market—the North American market—and achieve diversified asset allocation. It is truly a multi-faceted benefit. With Canada launching the Million New Immigrants Plan and relaxing immigration policies, now is the perfect time to immigrate to Canada.
