Last year, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada proposed a historic "Million Immigration Plan"—aiming to welcome nearly one million new immigrants over the next three years. Since then, Canada has continuously introduced favorable immigration news, such as reopening the Parents and Grandparents Program and raising the age limit for dependent children. Recently, Canada has announced another major benefit: the fee for minors who are permanent residents to apply for citizenship on their own has been reduced by 430 CAD!
To encourage more minors to integrate into the country, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada recently announced a reduction in the citizenship application fee for minor permanent residents, lowering it from the original 530 CAD to 100 CAD.
In addition to the fee change, the Canadian government has also made adjustments to the application process for minors. Previously, there were two ways for minors to obtain citizenship: one where the parents are Canadian citizens, and another where the minor applies for citizenship alongside their permanent resident parents.
Now, regardless of whether their parents are Canadian citizens or whether the parents are applying for citizenship at the same time, minors with permanent resident status can apply for citizenship on their own, provided they meet the residency requirements, with no difference in fees.
Furthermore, for eligible applicants who applied for citizenship after June 19, 2017, and have already paid the 530 CAD fee, the government will gradually refund the 430 CAD difference.
The Canadian government stated that an important way for new immigrants to successfully integrate into Canada is by becoming Canadian citizens. Lowering the citizenship application fee can help more minors become Canadian citizens more easily, including those in the child welfare system or those under government care.
As a traditional major immigration country, Canada has been continuously adjusting its immigration policies in recent years to actively attract overseas investors. Under the favorable environment of immigration policies, various Canadian provinces have also introduced beneficial immigration policies, actively opening their doors to welcome overseas immigrants.
The Quebec Immigrant Investor Program, with its advantages of no language requirements, no educational requirements, and obtaining a Permanent Resident Card in one step, has always been a favorite among Canadian immigration applicants. Among other Provincial Nominee Programs, the Saskatchewan Entrepreneur Program and the Manitoba Entrepreneur Program are highly sought after by investors for their low thresholds and ability to land in Canada quickly. Additionally, the Prince Edward Island Entrepreneur Program and the New Brunswick Entrepreneur Program, which also offer a one-step path to a Permanent Resident Card, are excellent choices for investors to plan their lives and build a second home.
