Numerous Free Language Improvement Institutions
In Malta, for children who do not speak English, local schools offer a course called "Hub Class". There are a total of 5 schools in Malta that provide English and Maltese training for children in primary school who do not speak English at all, for a duration of one year.
The locations of the five Hubs are in Naxxar, Birkirkara, San Gwann Primary School, B’Bugia Primary School, and Gozo.
The courses offered are:
1) Integra Foundation offers free English and Maltese language courses once a week.
2) Directorate for Lifelong Learning and Early School Leavers (Ministry for Education and Employment) provides English and Maltese courses (Maltese citizens may need to pay, but free courses may be offered depending on the situation).
3) St Andrew’s Scots Church, Valletta offers free courses on Mondays and Thursdays.
4) Youth.lnc provides free courses for students aged 16 to 21.
Relatively Low Costs
1. If one parent is employed, all public education during the compulsory education phase is free; for children of MRVP individuals, the fees for kindergarten and nursery range from 200 to 400 euros. This tuition fee (also referred to as registration fee) is paid per semester, not annually. If MRVP individuals obtain employment during the semester, they can apply for a refund of the relevant semester fees paid.
2. In primary school, if both parents are working and do not have time to prepare breakfast for their children, the school provides free nutritious breakfasts;
3. If parents do not have time to supervise their children after school, the school offers after-school care services for children aged 3-16, called "Klabb 3-16 After School Program", which includes homework assistance, reading, sports activities, watching movies, etc. The fee is only 80 cents per hour.
