In Greece, kindergartens and preschool education institutions are not compulsory education. Parents can choose to enroll their children in public or private kindergartens, with public kindergartens being free of charge. Additionally, early childhood education in Greece is divided into two types: semester education and childcare.
Semester Education:
This refers to what we commonly call kindergarten, which is divided into public and private institutions, and is regulated by the Ministry of Education, specifically providing formal preschool education for children aged 4-6 years. This includes interdisciplinary and thematic educational guidance based on the national preschool education manual. The standard operating hours for kindergartens are from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, with some full-day kindergartens extending their closing time to 4:30 PM. Since 1988, all kindergarten teachers and staff in Greece must hold a bachelor's degree in one of the eight national preschool education-related majors to qualify for work in the early childhood education field.
Childcare:
In childcare centers, children are grouped by age, operating five days a week for 8-9 hours each day, providing supervision and basic educational guidance based on actual circumstances. Generally, childcare centers are staffed with childcare teachers, assistants, and kindergarten teachers, with a head teacher usually responsible for daily administrative tasks. All domestic childcare centers and kindergartens are simultaneously regulated by the Greek Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and Welfare, and Ministry of Interior. Childcare teachers must hold a diploma in one of the three major early childhood education-related programs from a domestic technical college, while the entry requirement for childcare assistants is a college degree, along with at least two years of relevant professional skills training before they can start working.
To apply for enrollment for children at home, you only need to prepare: a) application form b) child's birth certificate c) child's health certificate
WorldWay Immigration reminds investors: Greece currently has a relatively relaxed investment immigration policy. WorldWay has launched island properties, with a five-year lease and a 7% annual return, allowing investors to recover 35% of their profits in five years, which means an investment of only 160,000 euros can enable a family of three generations to immigrate to Greece, allowing your children to enjoy high-quality education in Greece and get a head start!
