Major positive news: a new era for overseas Chinese is arriving in just two days!
The Ministry of Public Security of China recently announced that it will launch eight entry-exit facilitation measures starting February 1, 2018, covering various aspects such as local document processing, self-service document processing, free photography, document processing for foreign nationals of Chinese origin, and self-service border clearance.
It is worth mentioning that the sixth new regulation concerning document processing for foreign nationals of Chinese origin will benefit all such individuals: for foreign nationals of Chinese origin coming to China to visit relatives, conduct business, engage in scientific, educational, cultural, or health exchanges, or handle private affairs, public security entry-exit management agencies may issue multiple-entry visas valid for up to 5 years according to regulations; for those who need to reside in China for a long period for work, study, family visits, or private affairs, residence permits valid for up to 5 years may be issued. This means that Chinese nationals can now stay in China for up to 5 years at a time! This is a significant improvement over the current ten-year multiple-entry visa. Compared to the time-consuming and laborious visa application process previously required for every return to China, this new regulation is truly welcomed by foreign nationals of Chinese origin!
The eighth new regulation concerning self-service border clearance is a major benefit for Chinese immigrants in Canada: Chinese and foreign travelers who use self-service border inspection channels for entry or exit can print a record of their most recent entry or exit from that port for free at the self-service printers located behind the self-service channels. This entry-exit record certificate has the same legal effect as the Chinese border inspection stamp affixed to entry-exit documents by border inspection authorities.
This new regulation is a major benefit for Chinese nationals in Canada who hold a Permanent Resident Card (Maple Leaf Card) but have not yet naturalized, as they need to update their cards. The current policy for updating a Maple Leaf Card requires residency for at least 2 years within a 5-year period, and a key basis for verification is the "border inspection entry/exit stamp." After the implementation of this new regulation, which provides self-service printing of entry-exit records for travelers using self-service channels, everyone can print their own records. This not only increases efficiency but also makes residency records clearer.
In addition to the two favorable new regulations mentioned above, several other new measures also provide great convenience for various domestic residents and fellow Chinese compatriots.
Relevant officials from the Ministry of Public Security stated that in the future, the Ministry will continue to focus on key areas such as facilitating entry and exit for the public, supporting innovation and development in key regions, and reforming the permanent residence system for foreigners.
Therefore, those who were afraid that after immigrating to Canada, various restrictions would prevent them from living in China for long periods can finally rest assured and immigrate to Canada!
