As the world's leading nation in education, the United States has consistently attracted students from around the globe, including China, due to its excellent teaching quality, open and diverse environment, wide variety of scholarships, and high market recognition. The latest survey report shows that the number of students from mainland China studying in U.S. universities has now exceeded 350,000. Mainland China continues to be the primary source of international students for U.S. universities.
On November 13, the Institute of International Education (IIE) released the '2017 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange,' providing a detailed analysis of international students studying in the U.S. during the 2016-2017 academic year. It is reported that the number of international students enrolled in U.S. higher education institutions has reached a new historical high this year! Total Number of International Students
The report shows that in the 2016/17 academic year, the number of international students studying at U.S. universities reached a record high of nearly 1.08 million, an increase of 3.4% over the previous academic year. This is the second consecutive year that the number of international students in the U.S. has exceeded one million. This also marks the eleventh consecutive year of growth in the number of international students receiving higher education in the U.S., although the number of new enrollments has declined for the first time.

China Remains the Largest Source of Students Studying in the U.S.
Among the more than one million international students studying in the U.S., China remains the number one country. In the 2016/17 academic year, 350,755 Chinese students studied in the U.S., an increase of 6.8% compared to 2015-2016, accounting for 32.5% of the total number of international students in the U.S.
Among international students, the countries with the highest number of students studying in the U.S. are, in order: China, India, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, Mexico, and Brazil. Among them, China and India, the two super-sources of international students, account for about half of the total number of international students in the U.S.

The Largest Number of Students are Pursuing Undergraduate Degrees
The 2017 'Open Doors' report shows that among the nearly 1.08 million international students studying in the U.S., the largest number are pursuing undergraduate degrees, at 439,000, followed by graduate students at 391,000. Undergraduate study continues to show an upward trend. According to the report, the number of Chinese undergraduate students in the U.S. reached 142,851, accounting for 41% of the total number of Chinese students in the U.S., once again surpassing the number of Chinese students at the graduate level (128,320).
The number of students at the undergraduate and graduate levels has maintained steady growth, while the number of students entering OPT (Optional Practical Training) has increased by 19% compared to the previous year. The number of students choosing non-degree education has decreased significantly.
States Hosting International Students
The state that attracts the most international students is California. With its superior geographical location and top-tier universities, California remains the preferred destination for students studying in the U.S.
Which cities are the most attractive to international students? New York remains the preferred metropolitan area for international students, followed by Los Angeles, Boston, and Chicago. Dallas has surpassed San Francisco as the fifth-largest metropolitan area.
International students are mostly concentrated in California, New York, and Texas. One out of every three international students studies in these three states.
Worldway Interpretation
With the increase in the number of students studying abroad, Worldway Immigration Group has also observed that among the immigrant population, clients whose primary demand is their children's education have consistently remained high. It can be said that education remains a major rigid demand for immigration. Therefore, the 'new study abroad' approach of 'immigrating first, then studying abroad' has gradually become a 'shortcut' for study, overseas research, and employment.
A U.S. Green Card is the most powerful 'stepping stone' to help children gain an admission probability nearly 9 times higher than that of international students and to knock on the doors of prestigious U.S. universities. At the same time, during the internship and job-seeking phase after graduation, students with Green Cards do not need to apply for work visas, do not need to participate in the lottery, and can enter Fortune 500 companies more easily!
Therefore, families who want to send their children to study abroad should make preparations in advance. Through comprehensive overseas education and family planning, they can achieve their goals for immigration, education, employment, and even overseas real estate investment all at once.
Currently, Worldway's high-quality project: located in the 'U.S. Economic Growth Pole' of Dallas, hailed as the 2017 EB-5 Diamond Project—Dallas No. 1, helps investors quickly obtain a U.S. Green Card with $500,000, allowing their children to enjoy generous U.S. benefits and receive a first-class education.
