On August 28, the official website of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced the latest green card application policies, requiring that starting from October 1 of this year, all applicants for green cards based on employment visa applications (submitting Form I-485) and asylum/refugee family member applications (submitting Form I-730) must undergo an interview. This also means that starting October 1, the new policies under Trump will affect some EB-5 investors, and I-485 applicants will need to be interviewed.
We know that when an applicant's Form I-526 is approved and they are in the United States, they can adjust their status in the U.S. to conditional green card status by submitting Form I-485. Previously, applicants only needed to prepare the necessary documents for their attorney to handle, without the need for an interview. However, since October 1, 2017, applicants for employment-based immigration submitting Form I-485 will gradually be required to undergo interviews by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will also gradually expand the scope of immigration interview applications, and in the future, immigration applications in the U.S. will only become stricter, with higher thresholds for investment immigration. It is important to note that although the overall trend of U.S. immigration is tightening, the EB-5 investment immigration, which is beneficial for the development of the U.S. economy and creates jobs in the U.S., remains a type of immigration supported by Trump.
Currently, the EB-5 program has once again been extended to December 8 through a temporary resolution. This program will officially take effect after being signed by the U.S. President. So, will a new EB-5 program be introduced after December 8? Will the price increase for EB-5 really happen? The WorldWay Immigration Group continues to remind investors in need of green cards: take advantage of the current policy window for low-cost immigration to the U.S., start sprinting, get in line early, apply early, and benefit early!
