A green card is an identification document issued by the U.S. government to permanent residents, allowing them to live and work legally in the United States. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced on the 25th that, effective immediately, permanent residents needing to renew their green cards can submit applications using mobile phones or tablets.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services requires green card holders to renew their green cards every 10 years. Applicants can fill out the electronic I-90 form on the official website or mail a paper version of the I-90 form, starting the submission process 6 months before the green card expires, and pay a fee of $540, which includes a $455 application fee and an $85 biometric services fee.
According to the announcement from the Citizenship and Immigration Services on the 25th, if applicants do not have a lawyer or agent to assist with the application, they can now handle the relevant procedures themselves using mobile phones or tablets starting from the 25th.
The redesigned mobile or tablet version of the I-90 form allows applicants to fill in information, submit documents, or browse pages in a more intuitive, personalized, and convenient manner.
For example, when submitting copies of official documents, applicants only need to take a photo with their mobile phone and upload it. In the question-and-answer section, they only need to answer questions relevant to their application.
The mobile or tablet version of the I-90 form has no substantial differences from the electronic or paper versions.
Applicants can create a personal account on the Citizenship and Immigration Services website, fill out the I-90 form as required to submit their application, and check the status of their application through their personal account, as well as communicate with the Citizenship and Immigration Services via email.
If applicants are renewing their green cards through a lawyer or agent, they will continue to use the electronic or paper version of the I-90 form for submission.
