According to news reports released by the Government of Dominica, statistics show that in the first five months of this year, the number of overnight airline visitors to Dominica was 34,363, an increase of 14.3% year-on-year. Additionally, compared to the record 33,808 visitors during the same period in 2014, this represents a growth of 1.6%.
Specifically, data shows that among the overnight airline visitors to Dominica in the first five months of 2017, visitors from France saw the most rapid growth, increasing by 46.3% year-on-year to 3,528 visitors; visitors from the United Kingdom increased by 28.8% year-on-year to 2,337 visitors; visitors from Germany and German-speaking regions increased by 22.2% year-on-year to 1,374 visitors; furthermore, visitors from the United States increased by 9.0% year-on-year to 9,046 visitors, while airline visitors from Canada increased by 18.9% year-on-year to a record 1,712 visitors; visitors from the Caribbean region increased by 7.7% year-on-year to 13,648 visitors.
Data indicates that the growth of visitors from the French West Indies was slow, with only a 0.7% year-on-year increase, reaching 6,862 visitors.
