For Canadian-Chinese returning to China, these cities now offer a 6-day visa-free stay. Is your hometown on the list? Following the introduction of the 72-hour visa-free transit policy for foreigners, the government has launched a new policy: a 144-hour (six-day) visa-free transit for foreigners in regions including Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, allowing transiting foreigners to enjoy an in-depth trip or reunite with their families. This policy benefits foreign nationals from 55 countries, including Canadian and American immigrants.
Since 2013, foreigners have been able to enjoy a 72-hour visa-free stay upon entry at airports in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Xiamen, and Wuhan.
This time, the 144-hour visa-free stay policy has been opened in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Guangzhou. The following conditions must be met:
1. The policy applies to foreign nationals holding foreign passports who are transiting through China to a third country.
2. Upon entry, travelers must hold a confirmed connecting flight ticket with a set date and seat. It is important to note that the destination of the transit must be a third country.
3. The scope of the visa-free stay is limited to the province or city of the port of entry. To extend the scope of travel, an application must be submitted to the local public security authorities.
