Generally speaking, the Contributory Parent Visa can be divided into two categories: the 143 Contributory Parent Permanent Visa and the 173 Contributory Parent Temporary Visa. Compared to the long processing times of the Australia 103 non-contributory Parent Visa, the processing times for the 143 and 173 visas are shorter, allowing parents to reunite with their children more quickly.
Below is an introduction to the application guidelines for the Australia 143 Visa (Contributory Parent Immigration Visa):
Processing Time: 12-24 months
Visa Fees:
1. Direct application for the 143 visa:
- First installment fee (visa fee): primary applicant $3695, secondary applicants aged 18 and over $1245, secondary applicants under 18 $625.
- Second installment donation fee:
(1) For those holding a 173 visa at the time of application, AUD 19,420.
(2) For those who have previously held a 173 visa and hold a 600 visa at the time of application, AUD 19,420.
(3) Other circumstances: AUD 43,600.
2. Applicants who hold a 173 visa at the time of submission; or who held a 173 visa within the 28 days preceding the application; or who have previously held a 173 visa and hold a substitute 600 visa at the time of application.
- First installment fee (visa fee): primary applicant $325, secondary applicants aged 18 and over $165, secondary applicants under 18 $80.
- Second installment donation fee:
(1) For those holding a 173 visa at the time of application, AUD 19,420.
(2) For those who have previously held a 173 visa and hold a 600 visa at the time of application, AUD 19,420.
(3) Other circumstances: AUD 43,600.
Example Explanation:
If the applicant has never applied for a 173 visa before and is directly applying for a 143 visa, then at the time of submission, the basic application fee of AUD 3695 should be paid (if both parents apply, it sums to 3695 + 1245 = AUD 4940), and then wait for the immigration office to notify you to pay the second installment, which is the donation fee, AUD 43,600 per person, to be paid in one lump sum to obtain the 143 visa.
Payment Process:
Application fee $3695 → Donation fee $43,600 → Paid parent immigration permanent 143 category.
Note:
You may also receive a letter from the immigration office requesting AOS, which provides a 10-year financial guarantee for applicants aged 18 and over during the application process. The cost of this financial guarantee is AUD 10,000 for the primary applicant, and AUD 4,000 for each family member aged 18 and over, which will be refunded to you by the immigration office 10 years after obtaining the 143 visa.
