Requirements for Australian Investment Immigration: Applicants for Australian business immigration visas are subject to a points-based system. The scoring method considers not only indicators such as the applicant's personal and business net assets and corporate turnover, but also assigns points based on the applicant's age, education, and English proficiency. Additionally, points are awarded for specific factors such as business management experience and technical contributions/patents. Applicants must first meet the basic requirements, achieve a score above the 65-point passing threshold, and submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) via SkillSelect to be eligible for an invitation to apply. The immigration department will then determine the order of invitations based on the rankings of all applicants' scores.
Under the new policy, Australian investment immigration is divided into three categories. The application requirements for these three categories are as follows:
188 Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) Visa Application Requirements
1. 188A Business Innovation Stream:
The applicant and their spouse must have net assets of AUD 800,000. The applicant must have owned at least 30% of a company for 2 of the past 4 years, with that company having an annual turnover of at least AUD 500,000. The applicant must agree to and be required to operate a business in Australia for 2 years. This category is similar to the former 163 category and is highly suitable for domestic small and medium-sized business owners.
2. 188B Investor Stream:
The applicant must have legally earned a profit of AUD 2.25 million through company business or stock/futures investments, must provide tax returns/settlement statements, and must agree to invest AUD 1.5 million in Australian state government bonds.
3. 188C Significant Investor Stream:
The applicant must agree to invest AUD 5 million in Australia. This category has no restrictions on language, age, or source of funds, and does not require a points test, making it an ideal choice for high-net-worth individuals.
4. 188E Entrepreneur Stream:
Applicants must have an IELTS score of 6 in each band, secure at least AUD 200,000 in funding from a third-party Australian institution, invest 10% of the funds into the business within 12 months of starting the business, and hold at least a 30% stake in the business.
