Recently, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) announced in Beijing that its board has approved the accession of seven new prospective members, namely Greece, Cyprus, Bahrain, Samoa, Bolivia, Chile, and Romania. With this, the total number of AIIB members has expanded to 77.
AIIB President Jin Liqun stated that as internationalization promotes the development of Asia, the global economy will benefit from this in the medium to long term, and more countries will sign agreements to become AIIB members. "We welcome and appreciate the joining of new members, and we will work together to meet the infrastructure construction needs of the region."
Jin Liqun introduced that the seven new members include three regional members: Bahrain, Cyprus, and Samoa, and four non-regional members: Bolivia, Chile, Greece, and Romania. After the approval of the accession of these seven prospective members, they still need to complete domestic legal procedures and deposit the initial capital in the bank before becoming formal members.
The editor believes that with the development of the "Belt and Road" initiative, the development of economic globalization is an inevitable trend, and these countries' choice to join the AIIB is also a natural response.
Taking Greece as an example, Greece's geographical location is at an important node of the "Belt and Road" initiative. If the country successfully aligns its economic development with the "Belt and Road," Greece can maximize its advantages in maritime, aviation, land transportation, and logistics. The Port of Piraeus, as one of the largest ports in the Mediterranean and the closest western port to the Suez Canal, can drive local production and employment through port development, ultimately promoting overall economic growth in Greece. The AIIB undoubtedly provides a strong financing channel for the implementation of the "Belt and Road" strategy, and Greece's accession to the AIIB is also an important step in connecting with the "Belt and Road."
With Greece joining the AIIB and the development of the "Belt and Road," the relationship between China and Greece will further deepen, providing more and better opportunities for Greece's economic development. Additionally, Greece's advantageous geographical location makes it one of the springboards for Chinese capital entering Europe, Africa, and even the world, making the investment prospects in Greece enormous.
From an investment perspective, Greece's property prices and the euro exchange rate are currently at a relatively historical low, making it an excellent opportunity to invest in Greek real estate. Through the relaxed property investment immigration policy introduced by the Greek government, investors only need to purchase a property worth €250,000 in Greece, which not only allows them to invest in Greek real estate and enjoy investment returns but also enables their entire family to quickly immigrate to Greece and enjoy an international quality of life.
