According to the latest news from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada: From January to March 2017, a total of 3,801 Super Visas were issued, with a refusal rate of 18%. India, China, and Pakistan were the top three source countries for Super Visa recipients.
What is a Canadian Super Visa?
The Canadian Super Visa is available for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents. The Super Visa is valid for up to 10 years, allowing recipients to stay in Canada for up to 24 months at a time without the need to renew their visa during that period.
Parents and grandparents applying for a Super Visa must meet requirements such as passing a medical examination, having valid health insurance, and receiving financial sponsorship from their children or grandchildren.
Super Visa & Visitor Visa
1. Visa Validity:
Both regular visitor visas and Super Visas can be valid for up to 10 years (or until the passport expires). During the validity period, holders can enter Canada multiple times.
2. Duration of Stay in Canada:
The maximum stay for a regular visitor visa is 6 months per entry. If you wish to stay longer, you must apply for an extension before the 6-month period expires after arriving in Canada. In contrast, those entering with a Super Visa can stay in Canada for up to 2 years at a time, saving the trouble and expense of repeated renewals.
3. Medical Examination Requirements and Processing Speed:
Regular visas do not require a medical examination and are processed relatively quickly, typically within 1 to 4 weeks. Parents/grandparents applying for a Super Visa must pass a medical examination designated by the immigration department, and processing times are relatively longer, with some applicants waiting up to 3 months.
4. Proof of Insurance Purchase:
Super Visa applicants must provide proof of medical insurance valid within Canada; there is no such mandatory requirement for medical insurance for regular visas.
5. Financial Requirements for Applicants:
The Super Visa primarily focuses on the income requirements of the inviter, whereas the regular visa considers the applicant's own income and financial capacity more heavily.
Application Requirements
First, the sponsor in Canada must meet the income requirements.
Second, applicants must prove that they have purchased private medical insurance for at least one year with a minimum coverage of $100,000, which can be used for medical treatment, hospitalization, and the cost of repatriation if necessary.
Third, the applicant must not be inadmissible to Canada, for example, due to a criminal record.
Fourth, the applicant must pass a medical examination.
The following three situations are prone to refusal
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada states that Super Visa applicants must meet "the requirements for temporary residence." Based on the approval situation in the first quarter of this year, the main issues with refused applications are as follows:
1. The sponsor's household income does not meet the minimum income requirement;
2. The applicant cannot provide proof of relationship with the sponsor;
3. The applicant cannot provide proof of having purchased Canadian medical insurance.
Canada has a beautiful environment and is among the most livable countries in the world, making it an excellent choice for immigration and retirement. After successfully immigrating to Canada, the Super Visa category provides convenience for the reunion of parents and children in Canada.

Currently, the Canadian dollar is at a low level and Canada's economic development is promising, making this a good time for investment immigration to Canada. Among Canada's investment immigration programs, the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program does not require starting or operating a business, has no worries, and allows for obtaining a Maple Leaf Card in one step. It can be described as a truly pure investment project and is therefore highly sought after by Chinese investors.
Since the quota for the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program was announced in 2017, many investors have been scrambling for spots. The project quota is extremely tight, so it is recommended that those with immigration needs make a prompt decision!
