Recently, President Xi Jinping met with Greek Prime Minister Tsipras at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, where they had a constructive dialogue regarding Sino-Greek relations.
Xi Jinping pointed out that the traditional friendship and cooperation between China and Greece are constantly revitalizing. Political mutual trust between the two countries has deepened, and there have been fruitful results in practical cooperation in areas such as economic and trade investment, infrastructure construction, and cultural exchanges. The two sides should take the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to create a brighter future for the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Greece. China is willing to maintain high-level exchanges with Greece and enhance communication among government departments and all levels of both countries. The two sides should promote balanced development in bilateral trade. As important representatives of Eastern and Western civilizations, China and Greece should fully leverage their rich cultural heritage and continuously release the potential for cultural cooperation between the two sides, making full use of the new platform of the Civilization Ancient Country Forum to promote exchanges and dialogue between different civilizations. China and Europe should expand practical cooperation and maintain a free and open multilateral trading system, and China hopes that Greece will continue to make positive contributions to the long-term healthy and stable development of China-Europe relations.
Xi Jinping also emphasized that Greece's strategy to build an important international logistics hub aligns with the Belt and Road Initiative. Both sides should work hard to develop the Port of Piraeus into a significant container transshipment port in the Mediterranean, a bridgehead for land and sea transportation, and an international logistics distribution center, playing an important role as a support point for the China-Europe land-sea express line and the Belt and Road construction, continuously deepening cooperation in infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, and maritime fields, thereby benefiting the people of both countries more.
Tsipras stated that Greece and China are both ancient civilizations, and under the new circumstances, the two sides should strive to promote practical cooperation in widespread fields such as economy, investment, finance, energy, agriculture, and new technologies while developing the Port of Piraeus project. Greece is pleased to participate in the construction cooperation of the Belt and Road Initiative and believes that the Belt and Road Initiative is visionary, significant, and conducive to the interconnectivity of trade, energy, transportation, and networks across the Eurasian continent. Greece is willing to promote cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries as well as within China-Europe cooperation.
With the development of the Belt and Road Initiative, the increasingly close Sino-Greek relationship offers excellent opportunities for the economic development of both sides. Benefiting from the economic recovery, the Greek real estate market is gradually emerging from its low state; in 2016, Greek property prices increased by 10% compared to 2013, with experts predicting another potential rise of 20% in the future. The appreciation space for Greek real estate is substantial, and with the Greek government introducing a relaxed immigration policy for homebuyers, allowing families to quickly immigrate by purchasing property worth €250,000 in Greece, many Chinese investors are paying attention.
WorldWay Tong's immigration experts remind that currently, Greek property prices and the Euro exchange rate are at relatively historical lows. From an investment perspective, this is an excellent time for investment immigration to Greece, so investors considering this option should not miss the opportunity to buy into the Greek real estate market.
