The WorldWay Immigration Group has learned that the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will begin issuing a new version of the permanent resident card (commonly known as the Green Card) starting May 1, featuring "improved images and anti-fraud security features," and will also issue a new version of the work permit (commonly known as the work card).
Most notable feature: Anti-theft upgrade
USCIS stated, "The new card design shows that USCIS will continue to take proactive measures against document tampering and fraud. ... They are also part of USCIS, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's efforts to enhance document security and curb counterfeiting and fraud." The new permanent resident card and work permit are part of the next generation of secure identity documents.
Previous reports mentioned that since both documents include holographic images and no longer display personal signatures, it makes it difficult for others to forge signatures.
New Green Card:

Main features of the new Green Card and Work Card:
Dual-sided display of the cardholder's photo;
Special images and color palettes:
The Green Card will feature the Statue of Liberty and a green color palette;
The Work Card will feature a bald eagle and a red color palette;
Embedded holographic images;
No longer displays personal signatures;
The back of the Green Card will no longer display optical stripes.
Inventory clearance! Some old Green Cards will still be issued after May 1
USCIS stated that some Green Cards and Work Cards issued after May 1 may still use the existing design, as USCIS will continue to use the existing stock of cards until they are exhausted. Both existing Green Cards and new Green Cards remain valid until the expiration date indicated on the card.
How to confirm the validity of Green Cards and Work Cards:
Certain specific Temporary Protected Status (TPS) work cards and other designated category work cards have their validity automatically extended beyond the expiration date indicated on the card. For information regarding these work cards, you can refer to the relevant USCIS website.
Some old Green Cards without expiration dates are still valid. Holders of those Green Cards without expiration dates should consider replacing them with new Green Cards to avoid fraud or tampering in case of loss.
